Notice of Public Hearing
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Wilkes County Board of Commissioners (hereinafter “the Board of Commissioners”) will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at 9:50 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Room at the County Office Building in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, pursuant to G.S. §153A-340(h), for the purpose of hearing public comments on a proposed 60-day moratorium on the issuance of permits under the Wilkes County High Impact Land Use Ordinance as adopted by the Board of Commissioners on August 16, 2004 (hereinafter “Ordinance”). The purpose of the moratorium is to temporarily suspend the issuance of Intent-to-Construct HILU Permits and Operational HILU Permits under the Ordinance while the Board of Commissioners, following review by the Wilkes County Joint Planning Board as required under Article VII, Section 3 of the Ordinance, considers potential amendments to the Ordinance with respect to spacing requirements for high impact land uses, measurement criteria, and other possible amendments.
