*Wilkes Health has updated their definition of recovered to reflect recommendations from NCDHHS and the CDC. North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) estimates an average recovery of 14 days from the date that someone was tested for COVID-19, and were not hospitalized. However the estimated recovery is 28 days from the date that someone was tested for COVID-19 and was hospitalized*
Unfortunately, Wilkes Health is not able to provide a number of residents tested or negative test results. This is due to private practices, hospitals, long term care facilities, and some being tested outside the county. We understand that this frustrating, but only positive results and deaths are required by law to be reported to the health department.
